I’m not gone yet…

December 1, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I am sitting here procrastinating.  I have my clothes out to be packed for Vegas and just said goodbye to the kids and the Nanny as they were off to their various classes.  They’re going to have a blast while we’re gone for a couple days, I can just tell.

So, why am I procrastinating?  Probably because when I just got my clothes out they were all ‘dress up’ clothes.  I’m the exact opposite of those people that say they ‘love to get dressed up and go out’.  Ugh.  I want to take jeans and sweatpants.  You say, why can’t you?  Well, because one of the places we’re going has a dress code.  Now, this wouldn’t be such a problem if I actually had  a closet full of fancy clothes to chose from.  I have exactly three things and two of them don’t count.  And for the one thing tha does count, I don’t have shoes.  I would have to say that this is one of the few times that working at home is stressful.  Because I work from home I live in jeans and sweatpants…there is no need to dress up.  Thus, my closet is bare.  Oh, and did I mention that I dislike clothes shopping intensely?  Am I stressing you out yet.  I’m wondering if anyone would trade me, beads for personal shopping assistance.  I take that back, no assistance, just do it for me.

But all of this hassle over what to wear will be worth it.  I can’t wait to eat.  That’s what vacation is all about.  My only regret on vacations is that there aren’t enough mealtimes…especially in a short weekend.  The last time we were in Vegas we stayed at Mandalay Bay.  (That was my first and only time in Vegas).  One thing I loved about that place is that the ‘lobby’ or ground floor area (what the heck is a mezzanine?) had stages for two or three bands and in between all kinds of restaurants and bars including House of Blues.  You never had to leave.  You could sit and listen to music while eating sushi, stroll over and gamble a little, stroll around a bit more and have a beer, gamble more, eat more…you get the picture.  And if that wasn’t enough, you could walk down the hall to a full blow mall, take a tram to the Luxor or one of the other big ones and even go out the door a few steps to a full beach with wave pool.

Why the heck am I procrastinating?  Oh yeah, it’s in the 30s at night there.  Brrrr.
